Two sons of man executed in Khost also sentenced to death

Spokesman for the Taliban's police command, Mustagfir Garbaz, claimed in a recent message that this man and his two sons were involved in a case linked to the deaths of 13 members of a family from the Alishero and Terezai areas of Khost. According to him, the review process of this case proceeded through three stages of court proceedings under Taliban management, after which the final ruling was issued.

Based on reports, the execution of this individual took place on Tuesday morning at the central stadium in Khost in the presence of a large crowd. Sources say the main complainant in the case was a teenager whose family members were killed in this incident, and he refused to forgive the accused.

According to the Taliban's announcement, this individual was originally a resident of the Sayed Karam district in Paktia province; however, in recent years, he had been living in one of the villages in Khost. The Taliban say that after confirmation from their leadership, this ruling was carried out.

Reports indicate that this case marks the eleventh such execution by the Taliban over the nearly four years past.

In response to this incident, Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, described it as a clear example of violations of humanitarian principles and human rights, stating that the presence of a large number of people, including children, during such scenes is alarming.

This incident once again highlights the lack of transparency and accountability in the judicial and legal structures under Taliban administration as a serious concern for human rights organizations.

Taliban security officials in Khost province have announced that a similar ruling has been issued against the two sons of a man who was executed in this province on Tuesday. According to Taliban officials, the implementation of this ruling has been suspended until these two individuals return from abroad.
