Pakistani diplomat: CIA chief was also in Kabul at the same time as ISI chief's visit

This former Pakistani diplomat, in a podcast, recounted the details of Faiz Hamid’s controversial trip after four years.

According to Mansoor Ahmed Khan, Faiz Hamid’s visit to Kabul was supposed to remain confidential and not be publicized; however, he unexpectedly encountered international journalists in the lobby of the Serena Hotel.

He added that after the fall of the Republic system, the international community was deeply concerned about developments in Afghanistan, and for this reason, not only Faiz Hamid but also many intelligence officials from various countries, including the head of the CIA, were present in Kabul.

According to this diplomat, the publicization of the ISI chief’s visit sparked a wave of speculation and widespread propaganda in Pakistan, accusing Islamabad of interfering in Afghanistan’s internal affairs and playing a double game.

Nearly a month after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, in September of that year, the release of an image of General Faiz Hamid at the Serena Hotel, holding a glass and smiling, became highly controversial.

Mansoor Ahmed Khan, Pakistan’s former ambassador to Afghanistan, has revealed that at the same time as Faiz Hamid’s visit, the then-head of Pakistan’s ISI, in 2021, the head of the CIA, the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, was also present in Kabul.
