Abbas Araqchi: The Taliban has not respected the rights of Shiites

On Tuesday (29 Asad), Mr. Araghchi, in an interview with the IRNA news agency, stated regarding Iran's challenges in relations with the Taliban that Iran is still far from recognizing the Taliban regime; however, it closely cooperates with this group.

He also emphasized that the security of Shiites has been ensured; however, the Taliban has not respected the rights of Afghan Shiites.

Iran's Foreign Minister added that the situation regarding Iran's water rights has improved; however, it has not yet reached the level expected by Iran, and the banking issues of Iranians in Afghanistan remain unresolved.

Araghchi stressed that this cooperation is carried out to secure Iran's national interests, as he stated: "We share about a thousand kilometers of common border with Afghanistan and face numerous challenges; from the issues of migrants to drugs, border security, terrorism in Afghanistan, the water issue, trade between the two countries, the Persian language, and the security of the people, especially the security of Shiites."

Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, says that the Taliban has not fulfilled Iran's demands regarding the issue of water rights.
