Sudan violence nightmare; UN Secretary-General calls for immediate end to fighting

This incident occurred on Monday, November 3, at 9 a.m. local time, near the base camp of Yalung Ri mountain in the Dolakha region.


Rescue teams have so far found two bodies and are still searching for the other five, who are believed to be buried under the snow. Eight others have been rescued and transferred to a hospital in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, for treatment.


According to the police, all these mountaineers had set out for the ascent just one hour before the avalanche occurred.


Among the deceased are two Italians, one Canadian, one German, one French, and two Nepalis who were working as guides.

Nepali media have announced that, as a result of an avalanche in one of the peaks of the Himalayan mountain range in northeastern Nepal, at least seven mountaineers, including five foreign nationals and two Nepalis, have lost their lives.
