Turkish police arrest 24 Afghan citizens on charges of illegal entry

According to security officials' reports, these refugees were identified during inspections of cargo vehicles. Police added that in connection with this case, two individuals were also apprehended on charges of human smuggling.


The detained individuals have been transferred to special deportation centers for foreign nationals after the completion of the review process.


Turkish police have emphasized that operations by the forces of the Anti-Migrant Smuggling Administration and Border Crossing Management to identify and arrest migrants without residency documents will continue across the country.


Reports indicate that the arrest of Afghan refugees and their transfer to deportation centers has become nearly a daily occurrence.


According to the latest statistics from Turkey's Ministry of Interior, more than 30,000 Afghan refugees have been identified and detained in various cities of the country since the beginning of the current calendar year. Based on the same statistics, Afghan nationals constitute the highest number of detained refugees, followed by citizens of Syria, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran.

Turkish police have announced that in two separate operations in the cities of Sakarya and the Black Sea region, 24 Afghan citizens who had entered the country illegally were arrested.
