A global food program: One-third of the population of Afghanistan is facing severe hunger.

The agency, on (Sunday, 28 Sawr), expressed deep concern over budget cuts, warning that catastrophic hunger threatens millions.

The World Food Programme emphasized that to address the critical situation, it urgently needs 451 million dollars in the next six months. The agency added that currently, one-third of Afghanistan’s population is grappling with severe food insecurity.

The agency stated in a release: “If Afghanistan had a population of only 100 people, 50 of them would need assistance to survive; but now that the country’s population is 46 million, the depth of the crisis is far more extensive.”

It is worth noting that since the Taliban’s rise to power in Afghanistan, various factors, including reduced global aid, the expulsion of migrants from neighboring countries, and Taliban restrictions, particularly on women’s education and work, have intensified the economic crisis.

The United Nations World Food Programme has announced that this summer, it can only assist one million out of three million people in need in Afghanistan.
