Widespread internet outage in Gaza; Netblocks reports attack on fiber optic

According to reports, the internet connectivity watchdog (NetBlocks) has announced that since the early hours of Wednesday, September 17, a serious disruption in internet communications has occurred across the entire Gaza Strip.


The report states that internet in all of Gaza has faced serious problems, and especially the northern areas that are under attack by Israeli forces have effectively plunged into darkness and complete communication blackout.


NetBlocks has cited the targeting of one of the main fiber optic routes as the cause of this disruption.


Hours earlier, the Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority also announced that telephone lines and internet communications have been cut off due to Israeli attacks and the targeting of several main supply routes for the region.
