Deadly Hong Kong fire; leaves at least 94 dead, hundreds missing

Local officials in Hong Kong have announced that, in addition to the fatalities, hundreds remain missing and more than 70 others have been injured.

The fire in four buildings of the "Wang Fuk Court" residential complex located in the Tai Po area is nearly under control; however, rescuers are still searching for individuals believed to be trapped in the upper floors of the buildings.

This incident began on Wednesday and initially engulfed several apartment blocks before spreading to other sections of the buildings. Officials had previously reported the death toll at 65 people; however, with the continuation of rescue operations, this figure has risen to 94.

Officials have described this fire as the deadliest and most devastating similar incident in Hong Kong in the past 60 years. Many families are still anxious about the status of their relatives, and rescuers' efforts to find survivors continue.

Firefighting forces, equipped with special gear, are cleaning the buildings and inspecting the safety of surrounding areas to prevent secondary incidents.

International media have reported that the death toll from the massive fire in several residential buildings in Hong Kong has reached 94 people.
