Taliban leader: People's minds have become corrupt and alienated from religion

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, in a statement on Thursday, 16 Asad, without releasing any images, said that this meeting was held at the Kandahar governor’s office with the presence of religious scholars from 15 districts of Kandahar city, and Hibatullah delivered a speech there.

Hibatullah Akhundzada said: “In previous systems, un-Islamic affairs were expanding, and people were becoming estranged from religion. Those systems promoted corruption and immorality, corrupted the minds and thoughts of people, and encouraged them to oppose religion and faith, investing heavily in this goal.”

He claimed that people’s minds had become so corrupted that Sharia and religion seemed unfamiliar to them.

According to the Taliban’s statement, Hibatullah said in his speech that the youth of Afghanistan “are like my children, and I will strive to reform them and fulfill my responsibility in this regard.”

The reclusive Taliban leader also asked religious scholars to play a prominent role in “reforming society,” especially in religious matters. He claimed that all laws, decisions, and rulings of the Taliban are based on Sharia and that their implementation should be promoted.

The Taliban leader also expressed concern that efforts to weaken their system are ongoing but did not specify who is behind these efforts.

This comes as the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, due to human rights violations, particularly the violation of women’s rights.

Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, in a meeting with a number of religious scholars in Kandahar, stated that in previous systems in Afghanistan, un-Islamic matters had grown, and people had become alienated from religion.
