public violence; Taliban execute five people in Maidan Wardak and Baghlan

The court stated in a statement on (Monday, 13 Asad) that each of these individuals has been sentenced to three months of imprisonment and 39 lashes.

Meanwhile, the Taliban's Supreme Court, in another statement, says that based on the initial court ruling in the Baghlan Markazi district of Baghlan province, two other individuals have been punished in public for the crime of forging documents.

The statement indicates that these accused individuals have each been sentenced to six months of imprisonment and received 20 lashes.

The Taliban, after returning to power in August 2021, have resumed public corporal punishments.

Over the past four years, the Taliban have consistently reported the implementation of lashings on defendants with various charges.

The United Nations and human rights organizations have criticized these punishments and called for their cessation; however, the Taliban have not backed down from this practice so far.

The Taliban's Supreme Court announced in a statement that, based on the initial ruling of this court in the Saydabad district of Maidan Wardak, three individuals have been punished for the crime of sodomy.
