Pakistan Interior Minister: Re-entry of deported migrants will be considered a crime

Mohsen Naqvi, Pakistan's Interior Minister, said during a press conference on Monday (December 1): "Any individual from Afghanistan who re-enters Pakistan after deportation will be detained without delay." According to him, this decision is part of the government's new plan to control the entry and exit of illegal migrants.

He explained that the process of repatriating migrants without legal documents is continuing regularly in the provinces of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan; however, problems have arisen in implementing this policy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Naqvi claimed that despite the central government's official announcement of the closure of migrant camps, these centers remain active in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He accused the provincial government of non-cooperation and added: "National security is not a matter where each province or city has its own separate laws."

According to Pakistan's Interior Minister, the government will explore "all options, including legal action," to compel the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government to fully implement the policies.

He also referred to reports about the detention of some travelers at airports and said that this issue pertains to individuals who do not have complete travel documents and that between 50 and 70 people are stopped daily for this reason.

Mohsen Naqvi urged the Federal Investigation Agency to release transparent information on this matter and stated that this action is essential to prevent "the spread of misinformation by middlemen and document mafia circles."

These statements come as Pakistan, following recent border tensions with the Taliban, has intensified the process of deporting and detaining Afghan migrants.

Despite widespread condemnation from international organizations and human rights activists, the Pakistani government has shown no signs of change in this process to date.

Pakistan's Ministry of Interior has announced that the country will implement stricter policies against Afghan migrants who re-enter Pakistani territory after being deported.
