Shukrieh Barakzai elected as Vice President of the World Freedom Congress

The World Congress of Freedom has announced that this election was made based on "this organization's commitment to inclusive leadership and strengthening the role of women in achieving freedom, equality, and human dignity."


In her speech to the Congress members, Barakzai emphasized teamwork and stated: "We stand together for freedom, equality, and justice; stronger, more united, and committed to advancing global change."


The second meeting of the World Congress of Freedom was held yesterday, November 17, with representatives from 60 countries worldwide in Berlin. This three-day meeting focused on strategies such as countering authoritarian regimes, addressing the situation of political prisoners, and strengthening civil resistance. During this meeting, the Congress's internal elections were also held, and its leadership board changed after two years.


The purpose of establishing this Congress is to expand unity and cooperation in the fight against injustice and to defend universal values, including free elections, human rights, and the rule of law.

Shukria Barakzai, former Afghan Ambassador to Norway and former member of the House of Representatives, has been elected as the Deputy of the "World Congress of Freedom."
