Taliban announce expulsion of 20,000 Afghan refugees from Iran in one day

The commission stated on Thursday that out of this number, 15,208 migrants entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala border, and 4,836 others through the Abrisham border.

At the same time, based on statistics released by the Taliban, 490 Afghan migrants were deported from Pakistan through the Torkham border, 434 through the Spin Boldak border, and 13 others through the Bahramcha border.

It is worth noting that in recent weeks and months, neighboring countries, including Iran and Pakistan, have significantly increased the deportation of Afghan migrants at an unprecedented rate.

According to a United Nations report, in 2025 alone, more than 1.3 million Afghan citizens have returned to the country. This is while Afghanistan faces a poverty rate exceeding 70 percent, severe drought, and a chronic humanitarian crisis.

The Taliban High Commission for Addressing Migrants’ Issues announced that on Wednesday, 20,044 Afghan migrants were deported from Iran.
