Khawaja Asif: The Taliban were our creation, but they are no longer trustworthy

Khawaja Asif made these remarks on Monday, 22 Mizan, during an interview with Pakistan's "Aaj News" network. Referring to the Taliban, he said that Pakistan will never face instability.


He also stated: "The world knows that a collection of international terrorist groups exists in Afghanistan, where ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and the Taliban are active, and all of them are under the umbrella of Kabul."


He added: "Whenever an attack has been launched from Afghanistan, we have pursued the attackers to their homes. We know who lives where in Afghanistan."


Referring to the recent clashes, he emphasized that Islamabad does not want to go to war with the Taliban but will respond harshly to hostility. He said: "The current conflict between Kabul and Islamabad is also in the spotlight and can only be resolved through the mediation of countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar."


This is the most intense conflict between the two countries since the Taliban came to power in 2021.

Khawaja Asif, Pakistan's Defense Minister, amid ongoing clashes between Pakistan and the Taliban, stated that "the Taliban are our own creation; we nurtured them with the cooperation of the United States, but now they have become untrustworthy people."
