At least 25 Afghan asylum seekers were detained by the Turkish Coast Guard.

According to reports, these Afghan refugees, along with an Azerbaijani smuggler, were detained by Turkish police in the city of Çanakkale.


Turkish police have announced that these refugees have been transferred to the Foreign Nationals Deportation Center after completing legal procedures.


According to statistics, 139,251 Afghan citizens live in Turkey; however, there is no precise data on the exact total number of Afghan refugees in the country.


Meanwhile, Turkish police have recently intensified the process of detaining and deporting Afghan refugees. According to reports, thousands of Afghan refugees have been detained in various cities of Turkey since the beginning of this year and transferred to deportation centers.

The Turkish Coast Guard has announced that 25 Afghan refugees who were on board an inflatable boat have been detained.
