Taliban injure more than 20 residents of Yamgan

These sources said on Saturday (25 Asad) that Taliban fighters opened fire on the protesters, injuring more than 20 people, including two girls.

In images obtained from this incident, it can be seen that several residents of Kawjokhan village have been severely injured. According to sources, the condition of eight of them has been reported as critical.

The sources add that following the public protest in Yamgan, Taliban fighters shot at the protesters.

According to the sources, Ghulam Mohammad, who was appointed as the chief of Kawjokhan, bribed the district governor of Yamgan with a single plot of land in the Baharak district to secure his appointment in this village.

It is worth noting that previously, Taliban fighters have repeatedly suppressed public protests in Badakhshan with violence, shooting at protesters, resulting in deaths or injuries.

Local sources in Badakhshan say that after the Taliban appointed an individual named Ghulam Mohammad as the village chief in Kawjokhan village against the will of the people, a number of residents of this village staged a protest.
