Trump: Two US nuclear submarines have arrived 'where they need to be'

He also announced that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will travel to Russia next week; this trip will take place before the deadline for new U.S. sanctions.

Following the escalation of verbal tensions between the U.S. President, the Russian President, and Dmitry Medvedev, Trump announced that U.S. nuclear submarines have been redeployed and are now in "where they need to be." He emphasized that if Moscow does not end the war in Ukraine, sanctions will be imposed on Russia.

This comes as Medvedev, last Monday, warned Trump that increasing U.S. pressure on the Kremlin regarding the Ukraine war could lead to an escalation of conflict, not only between Russia and Ukraine but also between Russia and the United States.

This warning was issued after Trump threatened that if Russia does not end the war in Ukraine within 10 to 12 days, more sanctions and tariffs would be imposed on the country.

It is noteworthy that Trump had previously, in July, given Russia a 50-day deadline to end the war in Ukraine and return to peace negotiations.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, on Sunday, before leaving his golf resort in New Jersey, responded to a question about the location of U.S. nuclear submarines, saying: "Yes, they are in the area where they need to be."
