Taliban Governor Creates 800-Man Secret Unit in Kandahar

According to sources, this force, in addition to monitoring people's daily lives, keeps an eye on the routes for the production and smuggling of narcotics in the districts of Zhiri, Panjwayi, Maywand, and Arghandab.

Local sources say that members of this unit wear ordinary clothes, making it difficult for people to identify them. They patrol markets, religious centers, caravanserais, and around homes, pursue suspicious individuals, gather information, and in some cases make arrests. The monthly income of each member ranges from 15,000 to 25,000 Afghanis, which is significantly higher than that of ordinary Taliban forces, to ensure their commitment and continuous activity.

It is said that this unit has even influenced other Taliban security institutions, and the Ministry of Defense and Intelligence Administration have been unable to restrict it; because Mullah Shirin enjoys special influence with the Taliban leader.

Analysts warn that the formation of such a parallel force and local power islands could lead to political and social crises in Kandahar in the future.

Mullah Shirin, the Taliban governor in Kandahar and one of the closest associates to the leader of this group, has formed a secret 800-member unit with security and intelligence missions.
