Ahmad Sharia: Murderers in Afghanistan call others terrorists

He added: "The term terrorism has been in use for several decades; yet there is still no unified understanding of it."

Al-Sharaa, referring to Afghanistan, said: "In this country, a large number of civilians, including women and children, lost their lives. The victims were innocent, and it is the killers who call others terrorists."

The Syrian president also questioned the performance of global powers in regional wars, emphasizing that examples like Afghanistan and Iraq demonstrate that the term terrorism has often been turned into a political tool, and many victims had no role in military conflicts.

Mr. al-Sharaa defined a true terrorist as someone who harms civilians and uses illegal methods, not those who operate on the battlefield within the framework of military engagements. He also stated that public opinion today better understands who the real threat is, and for this reason, his name is no longer on the Security Council's terrorist list.

The Syrian president, in another part of his speech, referred to the role of women in Syria and emphasized that the women of this country are "empowered, with guaranteed rights, and a main partner" in government and parliamentary affairs.

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, in his speech at the 23rd Doha Forum, criticized the politicization of the concept of terrorism, stating that the experience of Afghanistan's wars shows that countries and groups involved in the killing of civilians label others as "terrorists."
