Deadly shooting in Sydney; At least 10 dead, 13 injured

This incident occurred on (Sunday, December 14) at one of the busiest beaches in the city.


According to police, more than a thousand people were present at the ceremony at the time of the shooting, and after initial reports emerged, approximately two thousand participants were evacuated from the area. Security forces quickly cordoned off the region and initiated emergency operations.


Police in the state of New South Wales have stated that the involvement of two gunmen in this attack has been confirmed so far. Based on official information, one of the suspects has been killed and the other suspect is severely injured. Investigations into the potential involvement of a third individual are ongoing.


The head of New South Wales police described this event as a "terrorist act" and said a suspicious vehicle was identified near the incident site, which is believed to have been carrying several improvised explosive devices. According to him, the police bomb disposal unit is on the scene and security checks are continuing.


Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister of Australia, described the shooting as "shocking and deeply concerning" and announced that rescue and security forces are deploying all their efforts to save the lives of the injured and ensure security. Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel, also confirmed that this attack occurred during the Hanukkah celebration and strongly condemned it.
