Abbas Araqchi: Afghan stability is a strategic necessity for the entire region

Representatives from Russia, Pakistan, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan were present at this session; however, the Taliban did not participate.

The spokesperson of Iran's Foreign Ministry, at the start of the Tehran regional meeting, said that all recent developments in Afghanistan will be reviewed.

Araghchi deemed it essential to establish mechanisms for ongoing dialogue among the neighboring countries and stated that these meetings can reduce misunderstandings and increase coordination in policies and programs related to economic, border, and humanitarian issues.

He also emphasized that extra-regional solutions are not effective and that only the cooperation of regional countries can help stabilize Afghanistan, calling for the limitation of foreign interference in the country's affairs.

In the economic section, Araghchi pointed to the importance of strengthening regional cooperation with Afghanistan and added that improving the conditions of this country can transform it into a connecting link between Central Asia and South and West Asia and the Pacific Ocean region.

Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, stated at the regional meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring countries and Russia, held in Tehran on Sunday, that the stability of Afghanistan is a strategic necessity for the entire region and its security is directly linked to the interests of its neighbors.
