European Union: More than 21 million Afghan citizens lack access to safe drinking water

This entity has warned that the water crisis remains one of the serious and growing problems in the country.


The European Union wrote in a note on the X network on (Sunday, 23 Qaws) that it is implementing projects to improve people's access to clean water, including the installation of water pumps and the drilling of wells in some areas of Afghanistan.


The water shortage crisis in Afghanistan has affected the lives of millions of people, and its negative consequences on public health, food security, and social stability are widely felt.


Previously, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) had also announced, referring to the impact of climate change, that approximately 80 percent of people in Afghanistan use contaminated water for drinking.


UNICEF has warned of the increased risk of disease outbreaks as a result of consuming unsafe water and has called for urgent attention to the water and sanitation situation in Afghanistan.

The European Union's humanitarian aid section in Asia and the Pacific has announced that more than 21 million people in Afghanistan do not have access to safe drinking water.
