Humanitarian crisis in Sudan; 14 million displaced, 21 million facing acute hunger

According to the latest United Nations statistics, at least 21.2 million people are facing high levels of food insecurity, and access to humanitarian aid remains severely restricted.

Another section of the UN report states that 10 million children have been deprived of education due to the destruction of schools, the occupation of classrooms, or insecurity along access routes.

The International Organization for Migration has also announced that Sudan is facing the world's largest humanitarian and displacement crisis; of the total 14 million displaced persons, 4.35 million have fled the country, and more than 9.5 million have been internally displaced. These displacements are scattered across 10,929 sites and 185 counties throughout 18 states of Sudan, with more than half of the displaced—51 percent—being children.

The war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary "Rapid Support Forces" began on April 15, 2023, unleashing a wave of violence that has become one of the fastest-escalating humanitarian crises in the world. Both sides have been accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, and the United Nations has warned that actions by the Rapid Support Forces in Darfur may constitute genocide.

International media have reported that nearly three years of civil war in Sudan have displaced 14 million people and left 21 million facing severe hunger.
