UN: Terrorist groups from ISIS to Al-Qaeda active in Afghanistan

According to the UN Sanctions Monitoring Committee's report, member states consistently confirm that various terrorist groups are active in Afghanistan.

The report refers to the presence of groups such as ISIS-Khorasan, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, Al-Qaeda, the Turkistan Islamic Movement, Jamaat Ansarullah, and the Alliance of Pakistani Mujahideen.

The Sanctions Monitoring Committee has also stated that the orders of Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada are not uniformly enforced across the country, and some powerful leaders, including members of the Haqqani network, have extensive operational autonomy and can implement their own decisions without fully adhering to the directives.

The UN Security Council has stated that multiple terrorist groups, including ISIS-Khorasan, Al-Qaeda, and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, are present in Afghanistan, and the Taliban's claim of no such groups existing in the country is "invalid." This report heightens concerns over security threats and stability in the region.
