Explosion in Moscow; Two police officers and one other person killed

According to reports, the incident occurred when officers approached a man exhibiting suspicious behavior, and an explosive device detonated.


The explosion took place near a location where, two days earlier, a senior Russian general had been killed in a bombing.


Russia's Investigative Committee has announced that criminal cases have been opened under the titles of murder of law enforcement officers and illegal trafficking of bombs.


Unofficial Russian channels have reported that the perpetrator of the explosion was one of the individuals killed, and that he detonated the bomb as police approached, although these details have not yet been officially confirmed.

International media, citing Russian officials, reported on Wednesday that two traffic police officers and one other person lost their lives in an explosion in Moscow.
