Khamenei warns US attack on Iran could lead to regional war

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Sunday, 12 Dalwa (February 1), referring to the extensive deployment of U.S. military equipment to the region, said: "The Iranian nation should not be intimidated by such things."


The leader of the Islamic Republic, referencing U.S. threats, added that the Iranian people will not be swayed by such statements. He said: "We are not the initiators. We do not wish to oppress anyone and have no intention of attacking any country; but the Iranian nation will deliver a firm punch to anyone who attacks and harasses us."


Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the United States is negotiating with Iran. He added: "We'll see if we can do something. Otherwise, we'll see what happens. We have a large fleet heading there; larger than what we had in Venezuela and still have."


At the same time, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council has also announced, without providing further details, "progress in the ongoing negotiations" between Tehran and Washington.

Amid rising speculation about the possibility of a U.S. attack on Iran, the leader of the Islamic Republic has warned that any military action by Washington against Tehran could lead to a regional war.
