Billions paid to Taliban; Saleh: US will pay $90 million to Taliban this month

Saleh meanwhile said that although the Taliban have not yet fully spent the previous package, Washington has pledged to transfer about $90 million to this group in the current month as well.


Mr. Saleh wrote on his X page on Tuesday, February 27, that the U.S. government imposes tariffs on Canada on one hand and "generously provides financial support to the Taliban" on the other.


He also implicitly introduced the Taliban as America's proxy group in Afghanistan and asked: "Don't you think something is being planned in which the Taliban, as an ugly proxy, have a mission to carry out?"


In late January of 1402, the U.S. State Department confirmed to the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) that every 10 to 14 days, about $80 million in cash is sent to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. However, following increased criticism over sending cash to the Taliban, Washington has not publicized details of its $40 million packages since Cancer month of 1402 onward.
