Wave of attacks; Freedom Front reports rocket attack on Taliban at Kunduz military airport

According to a statement from the front, the attack, which took place around 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, targeted the Kunduz military airport and helicopters carrying armed Taliban fighters.


The Freedom Front claims that the attack was carried out based on intelligence information about the location of Taliban forces and was aimed at fighters who were scheduled to be deployed to Badakhshan province via this airport.


According to the Freedom Front, the Taliban have intensified the process of deploying forces and sending equipment to areas under the influence of this front in recent days.


The front also claims that as a result of this attack, heavy casualties and damage were inflicted on Taliban fighters; however, it has not provided details about the exact number of those killed and wounded.


The Taliban have not yet responded to this claim.


This comes as local sources had previously reported that a gathering of Taliban forces at the Kunduz military airport was targeted in a rocket attack. According to these sources, the attack took place in the late hours of Thursday night, and the forces stationed at the airport were scheduled to be transferred by helicopter to Badakhshan province.


This attack occurred at a time when, in recent days and weeks, attacks by political-military groups opposed to the Taliban have increased in Badakhshan province. According to sources, Taliban opponents have carried out attacks against Taliban forces in the districts of Yaftal, Dara-yi Pech, Zebak, Keshem, and several other areas of the province.

The Freedom Front of Afghanistan has announced that its forces inflicted heavy casualties and damage on Taliban fighters in a rocket attack on the Kunduz military airport.
