Toronto shooting: Police say two dead, several injured

Toronto Police announced that the first reports of an armed individual on St. Clair Street, the location of the Salsa on St. Clair festival, were received around 8:12 p.m. local time. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found six people wounded by gunfire, with the deaths of two confirmed on-site.


Police stated that the security situation in the area is under control; however, the public has been asked to avoid approaching the incident site until further notice, as security forces remain in the area.


Police officials also announced that no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting so far, and the perpetrator or perpetrators of the incident have yet to be identified.


Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, described the incident as "senseless violence" and condemned it.


He emphasized that those responsible for the event must be arrested and held accountable before the law. Ford also expressed gratitude to emergency services and extended condolences to the victims, their families, and those injured in the incident.

Following a shooting during a street festival in the Canadian city of Toronto, at least two people were killed and several others were injured. Security forces have a significant presence at the scene after the incident, and investigations into the event are ongoing.
