Pakistan Army: Operation against militants to continue

This issue was raised at the army commanders' meeting in Rawalpindi; a meeting held on Monday, 16th of Saratan, with the participation of 276 commanders and chaired by Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Commander of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.


In a statement, the Pakistan Army stated that the responsibility for preventing the use of Afghan soil to carry out attacks against Pakistan lies with the Taliban administration.


The army commanders have emphasized that Pakistan has the right to defend its citizens against terrorist threats, and the country's forces will continue "Wrath of the Right" operations against what they described as threats emanating from Afghan soil.


Pakistan's military commanders also stressed the need to strengthen governance structures in areas that have faced insecurity.

They stated that these structures should focus on providing public services, improving citizens' welfare, and severing the links between terrorism, organized crime, and political support.


The Taliban have rejected the claims made by the Pakistan Army regarding the use of Afghan soil by Pakistani militant groups to attack Pakistan. The group stated that the activities of these militants are an internal issue for Pakistan and that they bear no responsibility for the country's security problems.


Nevertheless, United Nations Security Council reports have confirmed the presence of Pakistani militant groups and several foreign jihadist groups in Afghanistan; however, the Taliban have consistently rejected these reports and findings and refused to accept them.

Pakistan's army commanders have announced that the country's targeted operations against militant groups using Taliban-controlled Afghanistan to launch attacks on Pakistan will continue.
