UN Security Council condemns deadly militant attacks in Balochistan

The Council has emphasized that terrorism in all its forms constitutes a serious threat to international peace and security.


In a statement issued on Tuesday, Security Council members called for holding the perpetrators, planners, financiers, and supporters of these attacks accountable, and stressed the need to bring them to justice.


The Security Council has also urged all countries to actively cooperate with the Government of Pakistan in countering these acts, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Council resolutions.


The statement further states that countries must combat threats arising from terrorist acts that endanger global peace and security, in accordance with international law.


According to reports, militants known as the "Balochistan Liberation Army" carried out coordinated attacks in multiple locations in Pakistan's Balochistan province in the early hours of Saturday, 11 Dalu.


Pakistani officials have announced that the country's security forces killed approximately 177 Baloch separatist fighters during the clashes on the day of the attacks and subsequent operations.


Additionally, in the course of the coordinated attacks by the Balochistan Liberation Army, at least 48 people, including 31 civilians, lost their lives.

The United Nations Security Council has described the recent attacks by militants in Pakistan's Balochistan province as "terrorist, horrific, and cowardly" and condemned them in the strongest possible terms.
