Axios: America awaits Khamenei's response

According to the Israeli source, Khamenei is expected to announce his official stance on Wednesday. Iranian sources present in the negotiations have also told Axios that they are awaiting the "green light" from the leader of the Islamic Republic to confirm the continuation of the negotiation process.


Axios also quoted an American official and a regional source as writing that in recent days, intense internal discussions have been ongoing within Iran's leadership regarding the manner of advancing negotiations with the Trump administration. Some figures, including Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Parliament, and Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister, have supported continuing the negotiations to extend the ceasefire. In contrast, Ahmad Vahidi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and his deputies have opposed offering any concessions and have emphasized that negotiation is not possible until the maritime blockade continues.


Axios writes that the seizure of an Iranian cargo ship by the United States in the Arabian Sea has deepened the rift between Iran's internal factions, and IRGC commanders have accused the Islamic Republic's negotiators of weakness in the face of the Trump administration.

The Axios website, citing regional and Israeli sources, reported that the recent extension of the ceasefire by the Trump administration was part of the United States and Pakistani mediators' anticipation of a response from the leader of the Islamic Republic, Mojtaba Khamenei, to their latest proposals and directives to the negotiating team.
