United Front: 180 religious scholars call for military operation against Taliban

This front stated in a statement on Thursday, the 5th of Virgonay (September), that the issuers of the fatwa are active in various fields of Islamic sciences, including exegesis, principles of religion, hadith, jurisprudence, biography, and creed. According to this statement, the fatwa was issued by a center that was established in 1394 (2015) with the aim of providing a clear interpretation of religion and Islamic sharia.

The United Front quoted these religious scholars as writing that Afghanistan, according to them, has fallen under the rule of "taghut" (tyranny), and they have deemed the liberation of the people from this situation a "religious duty." In a separate letter, they have urged the Freedom Front to "take up the sword" and act to liberate citizens from what they call "taghut."

The United Front has also stated that this center was founded more than a decade ago with the aim of combating superstitions, religious innovations, vulgarity, and sectarian division, and to provide a clear reading of Islamic rulings.

According to the United Front's announcement, this fatwa has been issued on behalf of all religious scholars across Afghanistan, and in response to their request, this front has emphasized its commitment to continuing the military struggle against the Taliban. The United Front has described armed operations against the Taliban as a "religious obligation" and stated that it will continue its fight until the Taliban regime is overthrown.

The United Front of Afghanistan, led by Semei Sadat, a former general of the Afghan army, had announced the start of military operations against the Taliban in early Mordad (August). In recent weeks, this front has also claimed responsibility for or carried out several attacks against Taliban forces in various provinces of Afghanistan.

The United Front of Afghanistan has announced that at least 180 religious scholars from various provinces of the country, through the issuance of a fatwa, have urged this front to begin armed struggle against the Taliban. According to this front, the fatwa was issued in a meeting in Kabul by scholars, academics, and researchers of religious sciences.
