Taliban Spokesperson: Jumah Khan Fateh Will Be Tried

Mujahid stated that the details of the case are not yet clear, and after the case is prepared and charges are formalized, the matter will be handed over to the Taliban's judicial and legal authorities.

Joma Khan Fateh surrendered on Monday, August 24, after several days of clashes with the Taliban, and was transferred from Badakhshan to Kabul. He had been a local commander and former deputy governor of the Taliban in Zabul, with hundreds of armed forces under his command. Tensions between him and the Taliban administration had escalated in recent months, ultimately leading to heavy fighting.

After Fateh's surrender, a Taliban delegation dispatched to Nasi has asked residents of the district to submit their complaints and petitions regarding his conduct.

A local source told Afghanistan International that members of this delegation, during meetings with the people, accused Fateh of seizing land and property from residents and "committing acts of oppression."

Meanwhile, Taliban-affiliated media have published images of large quantities of weapons and ammunition, claiming that this equipment was seized from individuals linked to Joma Khan Fateh.

Local sources say the Taliban, in addition to collecting hundreds of weapons from Fateh's men, have also gained access to several large weapons caches in the Kharket and Qawghdeh areas of Nasi district.

Afghanistan International, quoting Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, has reported that Joma Khan Fateh, the former Taliban district chief in Nasi, is set to be tried.
