Taliban closes office of women and children's rights organization in Kabul, arrests six employees

According to the sources, they also seized the institution’s equipment, documents, and work materials.


It is said that nearly a week has passed, and so far, there is no information available about the fate of the detained individuals. Additionally, two of the detainees are relatives of Zarqa Yaftali, the head of the institution, who is currently abroad.


Zarqa Yaftali, a women’s rights activist, received the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity 2026 from the United Arab Emirates last year.


It is noteworthy that this research institution was active in the fields of education, advocacy, research, and preparing investigative reports on women and children.


The Taliban have not yet made any official statement regarding this matter.

Reliable sources in Kabul have reported that the Taliban, in a raid this week on the office of the Women and Children’s Rights Research Institution in Kabul, led by Zarqa Yaftali, detained six employees of the institution.
