Deadly kidnapping; Bodies of 21 kidnapped policemen found in Pakistan's Balochistan

This incident occurred after armed individuals blocked the highway on Wednesday and extorted money from travelers and local residents. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.


The incident took place just one day after clashes between security forces and armed individuals in Ziarat district, in which 9 police were killed and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack. The Pakistani army has also announced that 15 armed individuals were killed in retaliatory operations by security forces.


Meanwhile, a protest sit-in in Quetta in response to recent insecurities has entered its fifth day. Protesters are demanding a direct meeting with Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, and the army chief of the country, saying they will continue the protest until their demands are met. Balochistan, which is one of the key mining regions and the main route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, has been facing activities by armed and separatist groups for years.

Pakistani authorities announced that the bodies of 21 police personnel, who had been abducted and then shot dead, were discovered on Thursday in Mangidam village in the Ziarat district of Balochistan province and transferred to Quetta's government hospital. With the discovery of these bodies, the death toll from the attack on the military convoy on the Karachi-Quetta highway has risen to 30.
