Fayeq: The Taliban have deprived the Afghan people of their rights guaranteed in the UN Charter

Mr. Faqeh, on Friday, 5th of Saratan, posted a message on the social network X stating that 80 years after the adoption of the UN Charter under the slogan "We the Peoples," Afghan citizens are still deprived of their most basic rights, and the promises made in this charter have not been fulfilled for them.


He went on to refer to the situation of women and youth in Afghanistan, saying that girls have been denied the right to education, women have been sidelined from public spheres, and youth have lost hope and opportunities to build their future.


The head of Afghanistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations also emphasized that the people of Afghanistan under Taliban rule have been forced into silence, and their fundamental rights are being systematically violated.


Faqeh added that Afghan citizens continue to eagerly await the realization of the UN Charter's promises regarding human rights, human dignity, and justice.


He concluded by stating that the credibility of the United Nations depends on the extent to which this institution supports the individuals for whose rights the Charter was drafted, and now is the time for practical action, not merely statements of position.

Nasir Ahmad Faqeh, the head of Afghanistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, has stated that millions of Afghan citizens under Taliban rule are deprived of the rights guaranteed by the UN Charter for their protection.
