Gold mining; Four killed in clash between Takhar residents and Taliban-affiliated company

Sources add that local residents have captured two guards from the Taliban-affiliated gold mining company. It is said that the local people, who receive no share from this mine, are protesting against environmental damage and water shortages resulting from the companies' excessive extraction.


According to sources, protesters stormed the headquarters of the Taliban-affiliated company in the Fazil Valley area. It has also been reported that residents of Chah Ab district clashed on Friday with several Taliban members who had entered residential areas for gold mining.

Local sources in Takhar province say that residents of Chah Ab district in this province clashed with companies affiliated with the Taliban over gold mining on Monday, January 5.
