Attack on Iranian ship near Strait of Hormuz leaves one dead, three injured

According to Iran's state broadcaster, citing Hossein Amir Timouri, the governor of Qeshm, the incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Monday, September 12, in the vicinity of Hengam Island and the Shib Deraz coast of Qeshm.

Amir Timouri stated that the type of projectile that struck the ship has not yet been identified. He confirmed that one person was killed and three others injured in the incident.

At the same time, the UK's Maritime Trade Operations agency also reported a similar incident, stating that a ship was targeted by an unknown projectile while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Hengam Island is located south of Qeshm Island and near the Strait of Hormuz; however, it remains unclear whether the Iranian officials' report and the UK's Maritime Trade Operations report refer to a single incident or two separate events in the area.
