Australian Foreign Minister: Force against Iranian protesters unacceptable

Penny Wong, Australia's Foreign Minister, referring to the widespread wave of public protests in various cities across Iran, stated that the use of force, arbitrary detentions, and threatening behavior against protesting citizens are unacceptable and must be stopped without delay.


She emphasized that the international community cannot remain indifferent to the suppression of the people's voice.


Australia's Foreign Minister also praised the courage of Iranian citizens who continue their civil protests despite threats and pressures, and called on the officials of the Islamic Republic to respect their international commitments regarding human rights.


This stance comes as multiple reports from inside Iran indicate the persistence of a security atmosphere, extensive restrictions on freedom of expression, and harsh crackdowns on protest gatherings—a matter that has also provoked reactions from a number of countries and international bodies in recent days.

In the wake of global reactions to the alarming human rights situation in Iran, Australia's Foreign Minister has expressed serious concern over the violent treatment of Iranian protesters in a message posted on the social network X.
