Taliban announce security meeting on Afghanistan's security situation

The meeting also presented and examined reports from the Taliban's Security and Clearance Affairs Commissions across all provinces. Participants in the meeting emphasized increasing coordination between security institutions and the Taliban's civilian administrations, deeming it essential for better implementation of tasks and provision of services.


This commission is responsible for reviewing the security situation and evaluating the performance of Taliban forces in various provinces.


At the same time as this Taliban assessment, international reports continue to indicate ongoing security threats in Afghanistan.

The activities of groups opposing the Taliban and the occurrence of terrorist attacks are considered among the challenges that continue to threaten the security of this country. Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban's spokesman, also stated on Wednesday that the group's defense ministry has conducted 602 independent and joint operations with the interior ministry and intelligence agency this year.


Mujahid claimed that as a result of these operations, "the enemy's complex plans" have been thwarted and a number of hideouts and networks of opponents have been dismantled. However, he provided no further information regarding the identity of the groups in question, the precise locations of the operations, or details of the security threats.


On the other side, fronts opposing the Taliban have reported an increase in their armed attacks in recent months. The United Front of Afghanistan previously claimed that over one month, it carried out at least 43 operations against the Taliban in 14 provinces, in which 74 Taliban fighters were killed and another 35 wounded. The Freedom Front of Afghanistan also stated that in the month of Asad (August), it expanded the scope of its armed activities to eight provinces and conducted at least 21 guerrilla and frontal operations; this front claims that in these attacks, 65 Taliban members were killed and about 90 others wounded.



The Taliban's Security and Clearance Affairs Commission held a meeting chaired by Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the defense minister of the group. According to a statement from the commission released on Wednesday, September 2, the meeting reviewed Afghanistan's security situation from various aspects, and the Taliban assessed the country's security conditions as "satisfactory and reassuring."
