Taliban intelligence media reports death of Australian citizen in Badakhshan

Hurriyat, citing the state-owned Afghan Tour company in Badakhshan, reported that the tourist had traveled to the province to visit Wakhan and the Pamirs. According to the report, he suffered a heart attack in Wakhan two days ago and passed away.


Sources say that in a copy of this Australian citizen's visa to which they have gained access, his name is registered as "Charles Philip Hein." Meanwhile, local media and journalists in Badakhshan have published a photo attributed to this incident, in which several individuals are seen transporting a body in a mountainous area.


The Taliban has not yet provided further information regarding the identity and status of this tourist or the location where his body is being held. A local source in Badakhshan has also confirmed the death of this tourist in Wakhan; however, they stated that the main cause of his death is still unclear.



Radio Hurriyat, a media outlet affiliated with Taliban intelligence, reported on Saturday, September 14, the death of an Australian tourist in Badakhshan province. The outlet claimed that this Australian citizen died in Wakhan due to a "heart attack"; however, independent sources have not yet confirmed the cause of his death.
