Salang Highway closed due to heavy snow and adverse weather conditions

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the ministry, emphasized that this measure has been taken to prevent potential loss of life and financial damages.


He added that maintenance and monitoring teams for the Salang route are on full alert, and as soon as weather conditions improve and the storm subsides, snow clearance operations will begin, and the route will be reopened for traffic.


The Taliban has also urged drivers to refrain from traveling until the route is reopened and to follow weather advisories and new guidance.

The Taliban Ministry of Transport has announced that the Salang Highway has been closed from dawn on Wednesday for all cargo and passenger vehicles due to heavy snowfall, strong winds, and reduced visibility.
