Freedom Front: 21 Taliban members killed in clashes in Zibak, Badakhshan

The front stated in a declaration on Friday, the second of Asad (mid-July), that operations against Taliban bases, units, and forces in this area began at dawn on Thursday and are ongoing.


The Freedom Front's declaration claims that its forces have succeeded in pushing the Taliban back from some positions on the heights around the Zibak border post. The front has also claimed that the 37 wounded Taliban members were airlifted by helicopter to medical centers in Faizabad and some other districts.


The Freedom Front has further stated that a quantity of Taliban military equipment and weaponry fell into the hands of its forces during these clashes. The front has also claimed that the Taliban's efforts to retake the lost positions have failed.


The declaration states that one member of the Freedom Front was also killed in these clashes. The Taliban have not yet commented on these claims.


The front has said that its operational forces are currently stationed in the trenches and positions established in the areas under their control.


The Taliban have confirmed the occurrence of this attack and claimed that at least five opposition forces were killed in the clash. Meanwhile, some sources have reported the killing of three local Taliban commanders; however, the Taliban have not yet provided details on casualties among their own forces.

The Freedom Front of Afghanistan has announced that its forces, in attacks against Taliban positions in the Zibak district of Badakhshan province, have killed at least 21 Taliban members, including several commanders of the group. The front has also claimed that 37 other Taliban members were wounded in these clashes, and one member of the front was killed.
