Afghanistan Embassy in Tokyo to be Suspended from End of January

This embassy stated on Friday, December 26, through a published announcement, that this decision has been made following discussions and coordination with Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


According to this announcement, from January 31 onward, all political, economic, cultural activities, and consular services of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo will be suspended indefinitely.


Meanwhile, despite the Taliban taking control of many of Afghanistan's diplomatic representations in the region, the Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan continues to operate under the management of the ambassador and diplomats appointed by the previous government. Currently, Shida Abdali holds the position of Ambassador of Afghanistan to Japan.


At the same time, Japan maintains close working relations with the Taliban administration, and this country's embassy in Kabul remains active.

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan has announced that it will suspend its activities in the city of Tokyo after the end of January next year.
