Trump: India will buy oil from Venezuela instead of Iran

Trump emphasized in remarks that this agreement has already been finalized and is part of the United States' efforts to reshape the global energy market.


He also noted that China could, if it wishes, enter into discussions with the United States to purchase Venezuelan oil.


These statements come as informed sources had previously told media outlets that Washington had messaged the Indian government, indicating that the process of purchasing Venezuelan oil might resume.


In recent months, the United States has intensified its efforts to reduce Russia's oil revenues in the wake of that country's war with Ukraine, while simultaneously creating new energy supply routes for its allies.


It is worth noting that the U.S. government last year imposed heavy tariffs on countries importing oil from Venezuela, including India—an action that has now entered a new phase with Washington's fresh energy policies.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, has announced that Washington and New Delhi have reached a new understanding, under which India will purchase Venezuelan crude oil instead of importing oil from Iran.
