Araqchi: In case of US attack, its bases in the region will be targeted

At the same time, Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister and head of the country's negotiating team, warned that if U.S. forces stationed in the region attack Iran, Tehran will target American military bases in the Middle East.


Araghchi, who traveled to Doha to participate in the seventeenth session of the "Doha Forum," told Al Jazeera network that Iran and the United States, following "positive" negotiations on Friday in Oman, have agreed to continue indirect nuclear talks.


He stressed that Iran has no intention of attacking U.S. soil or neighboring countries, adding: "There is a significant difference between attacking countries and targeting American bases stationed within them." According to him, no date has yet been set for the next round of negotiations.


Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump, by bolstering his country's military presence in the region, has threatened Iran with military action and demanded an end to uranium enrichment, the ballistic missile program, and support for regional armed groups.


At the same time, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced that Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with Trump in Washington on Wednesday, 22 Dalwa [February 11]; an office statement said the focus of the meeting will be discussions on negotiations with Iran and the need to include missile and regional restrictions in any potential agreement.

Following recent negotiations between Iran and the United States in Oman, officials from both sides have issued stark warnings. One day after these talks, the American delegation visited the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, emphasizing the strategy of "peace through strength."
