Stanikzai calls Taliban's new constitution against Islamic justice and human dignity

Stanekzai, in a note posted on his personal page on the social network X, emphasized that justice and piety form the foundation of the Islamic faith, while the content of this criminal code is based on discrimination, harshness, and disregard for human dignity. According to him, this document pays no attention to the changes of time, the needs of today's society, or the consensus of Muslim scholars.


This former Republic official believes that the Taliban's criminal framework is more of a tool for preserving and consolidating political power than a framework drafted with the aim of reforming society and ensuring justice.


He added that such an approach not only fails to guide society toward stability and justice but also widens the gap between the regime and the true values of Islam.


Stanekzai pointed out that the instrumental use of Islam's name to justify harsh laws damages people's religious beliefs and presents a distorted image of Islamic justice.


These remarks come as the Taliban has recently published its new criminal code—a document that has sparked widespread reactions among human rights activists, legal experts, and a number of religious scholars, heightening concerns over the restriction of individual freedoms and citizens' fundamental rights.

Mohammad Masoom Stanekzai, the former head of national security in the Republic's system, has strongly criticized the newly announced criminal code of the Taliban, deeming it a document that aligns neither with Islamic values nor with principles of human dignity and social justice.
