Sources: Taliban ban Yahya Annabi from going to pulpit and delivering sermons

Sources confirmed on Sunday that the Taliban's intelligence has warned Yahya Anabi that he will be arrested if he ascends the minbar again. Local residents also say that over the past few weeks, he has refrained from going to the minbar during Friday prayers.


Yahya Anabi is considered one of the well-known and at the same time controversial preachers in Panjshir. In the past, he had supported some of the Taliban's policies, particularly the group's actions toward women; however, he has also criticized the Taliban's performance in certain instances.


This is not the first time Anabi has faced action from the Taliban. He has previously been temporarily detained by the Taliban on multiple occasions.


In late Cancer (June/July) of the current solar year, reports had also surfaced about Yahya Anabi's detention by the Taliban. Now, sources say that the Taliban's intelligence, by issuing a warning to him, has prohibited him from returning to the minbar and delivering Friday prayer sermons.



Local sources in Panjshir say that the Taliban have barred Yahya Anabi, the imam of the Anaba Grand Mosque in this province, from delivering Friday prayer sermons and ascending the minbar. According to these sources, this restriction has been in place in recent weeks, and Anabi no longer appears on the minbar during Friday prayer ceremonies.
