Taliban report Pakistani airstrikes on Kunar and Paktika

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, has called these attacks a "crime and aggression" and stated that the Taliban will deliver an "appropriate response" to them. He also claimed that Pakistan's "military establishment" is using these attacks to divert public opinion from the country's internal security failures.


According to Mujahid, in the attack on Kunar, one woman and two men were killed, and two women and two men were injured. In Paktika, a house and a shop were targeted, but there were no casualties. The Taliban says these attacks took place in Pattan village of Nurgal and the Rakha and Tor Kanday areas of Bermal.


Hamidullah Fitrat, deputy Taliban spokesperson, stated that the killed and injured in the Kunar attack were members of a single family and has released images of the destroyed houses. Pakistani officials have not yet commented on these attacks.


These attacks come amid a surge in deadly clashes inside Pakistan. The Pakistani army announced on Sunday that in a clash with armed individuals in Hangai district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six soldiers, including two officers, were killed.


Pakistan has labeled these attackers as members of "Fitna al-Khawarij" and says the term is used for Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and affiliated groups. Islamabad also claims that some of these groups receive foreign support.


Meanwhile, sources say the perpetrator of Friday's suicide bombing on a police compound in Kohat was a resident of Sangin district in Helmand. Pakistan's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had previously stated that the attackers targeting worshippers and police forces in Kohat have roots in Afghanistan.


Pakistan has previously targeted areas in Afghanistan's border provinces and says these attacks aim at the bases of militants, particularly Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.



Taliban-affiliated media have reported that the Pakistani army targeted areas in the provinces of Kunar and Paktika with airstrikes in the early hours of Monday, 30 Saur. According to these reports, parts of Nurgal district in Kunar and Bermal district in Paktika were bombed.
